As a child analyst, he would value the opportunity to support the mission of the ACP. He sees that mission to be to support child analysis and child analysts. The ACP does this with our meetings and educational offerings. The ACP also attempts to help child analytic training programs, child candidates and those potentially interested in child analysis. Using the resources we have, I will attempt to further this mission.

Samuel Roth, PhD I am a child, adolescent and adult psychoanalyst practicing just outside of Boston and a Child Supervising Analyst at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. I trained in Boston at Boston University and the Massachusetts Mental Health Center, where, until recently, I supervised and taught clinical psychology interns for more than two decades. I completed adult psychoanalytic training at the Massachusetts Institute of Psychoanalysis (a Division 39 institute) before coming to BPSI for child training.
Prior to psychology graduate school, I pursued a doctorate in sociology, eventually falling in love with psychoanalysis through the writings of Herbert Marcuse, Max Horkheimer, Theodor Adorno and Erich Fromm as they grappled to understand the rise of fascism in Europe. I continue to read widely in psychoanalysis, sociology and history. I’m working hard to break my habit of reading the news.
Recently, I put a great deal of energy into working with colleagues to revitalize the child analysis program at BPSI, cultivating new sources of candidates and modernizing the pathway for developing supervising analysts. We have had some real success in these areas and hope our accomplishments can inspire others.
